BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares higher. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 2.02% to hit a new 1-month high. The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 8.02% or 0.82 points to trade at 11.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) added 7.36% or 1.24 points to end at 18.08 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) was up 6.19% or 0.54 points to 9.27 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which fell 3.91% or 0.60 points to trade at 14.76 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 0.39% or 0.07 points to end at 17.99 and BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) was down 0.20% or 0.06 points to 29.83.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 283 to 132 and 20 ended unchanged. The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.38% to 30.20. Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.22% or 2.76 to $1258.26 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.80% or 0.88 to hit $47.96 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.11% or 0.15 to trade at $136.17 . USD/BRL was down 0.71% to 3.1539, while EUR/BRL fell 0.48% to 3.4457. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 98.82.
