BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.66%. The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which rose 9.44% or 1.93 points to trade at 22.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 3.64% or 1.03 points to end at 29.33 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 2.88% or 0.18 points to 6.43 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which fell 3.61% or 0.95 points to trade at 25.34 at the close. Itausa – Investimentos Itau SA (SA:ITSA4) declined 3.32% or 0.36 points to end at 10.48 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) was down 3.06% or 0.79 points to 24.99.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 247 to 204 and 19 ended unchanged. The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.65% to 33.06. Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 5.60 to $1272.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.89% or 0.48 to hit $54.63 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.41% or 0.52 to trade at $125.28. USD/BRL was down 0.03% to 3.2716, while EUR/BRL fell 0.06% to 3.8086. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 94.45.
