BRASÍLIA: Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.01%. The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG – Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which rose 2.79% or 0.23 points to trade at 8.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) added 1.87% or 0.95 points to end at 51.68 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 1.66% or 0.87 points to 53.37 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3), which fell 6.34% or 5.91 points to trade at 87.24 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 4.13% or 0.33 points to end at 7.67 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was down 4.01% or 0.23 points to 5.51. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 203 to 170 and 28 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 7.96% to 31.87. Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.82% or 10.54 to $1268.46 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.26% or 0.66 to hit $52.84 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.28% or 0.35 to trade at $124.38 . USD/BRL was down 0.01% to 3.2904, while EUR/BRL fell 0.37% to 3.8203. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.09% at 94.55.
