BRASILIA: Brazil is allowing import licenses to be issued for Vietnamese seafood companies, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Producers.
On March 27, 2015, Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply issued notice No. 66/2015/CGPE/DIPOA on allowing the granting of import licenses for seafood products from Vietnam, after a period of suspension.
Last year, it emerged a temporary ban had imposed by the Brazilian government on Vietnamese pangasius imports over sanitary reasons.
This was, at the time, seen as an opening for Argentine hake suppliers.
The low price of pangasius had caused a drop in orders of Argentine hake by Brazilian importers.
