BRASILA: Brazil will propose tax discounts for electric cars in order to stimulate sales, the industry ministry (MDIC) stated. The initiative is part of the new public policy for the sector, dubbed Rota 2030, the format of which is being finalized by the MDIC.

We need to think of the future. We want Brazil to be a strong country with its automotive industry. All of the major economies in the world have a robust automotive policy,” said minister Marcos Jorge de Lima during an event to mark the Toyota’s 60 years of operations in the country. First announced at the beginning of 2017, Rota 2030 is intended to achieve energy efficiency, improve vehicle safety and foster investments in research and development.
