BUENOS AIRES: A 46-year-old Argentine businessman was murdered during a robbery in Passo Fundo, a city in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state, diplomats said.
Federico Guillermo Von Furth was shot in the head while driving with his 7-year-old son, who witnessed the shooting, the Argentine Consulate in Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, told Efe.
The assailants planned to steal the businessman’s vehicle and belongings, consular officials said.
Von Furth, an electrical engineer from Santa Fe, had worked in Brazil for several years.
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, consular officials said, citing police.
A gunman climbed into the businessman’s automobile and shot him in the head, media reports said.
Von Furth was given first aid and transported to a hospital, where he died as doctors were working to save him.
