BRASILA: Brazilian companies will be showcasing a range of new chocolate and sweets combinations at ISM 2018, the sweets and snacks trade fair that takes place in Germany later this month. Brazil’s confectionery and cereal-based packaged food industries will be represented by 19 companies at the fair in Cologne, featuring ‘healthier’ products made with local Brazilian ingredients. Last year, Brazilian exports of sweets, snacks and ingredients grew by 19.4% in value, as exports of cereal-based packaged food increased by 29% in value. The pavilion is organised by ABICAB (The Brazilian Cocoa, Chocolates, Peanuts, Candies and Byproducts Industry Association) and ABIMAPI (The Brazilian Manufacturers Association of Biscuits, Pasta and Industrialized Breads and Cakes), that run two export projects in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). Milena Boggio, vice president of exports at ABICAB, says, “We have been exploring flavours from the country’s five biomes to prepare new recipes that are proving to be very successful among consumers in Europe, the US and most of the 129 countries we export to.”
