BRASÍLIA: Brazil exported USD 18.3 million worth of telecom equipment during August, up 28.3 percent from the year before, according to the Brazilian Electrical and Electronics Industry Association (Abinee) monthly report.
The highest growth in exports was for radio base stations, lifting to USD 9.6 million from 6 million. In the same period, imports grew by 29.5 percent to USD 150.2 million. Within the segment, mobile phone imports rose by 233.1 percent year-on-year. The exports of IT equipment was worth USD 29.2 percent (+33.4%), while imports amounted to USD 134.8 million (+2.7%).
