BRASÍLIA: Brazil’s ferrous scrap exports totaled 43,083 mt in January, down 29.2% from 60,901 mt in the year-ago month and down 11.7% from 48,820 mt in December, the Ministry of Development and Foreign Trade said Friday.
Most of the January exports — 41,767 mt — went to Asia at an average FOB price of $158/mt, down 40% from $267/mt FOB a year ago and up 3% from $153/mt FOB in December. Ferrous scrap exports through the Santos port in Sao Paulo state in January totaled 27,217 mt, down from 29,257 mt in December.
