BRASILIAS: Brazil’s pulp production grew 10.2% in January 2018 compared to the same month last year. This represents a total of 1.83 billion tons of pulp, as the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá) said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
There was a small increase in total paper production, 1.9%, with the tissue sector standing out; production of this product, which is used for sanitary purposes, grew by 8%. The sector as a whole has produced 859,000 tons of paper, with the sanitary segment responsible for 95,000 tons and packaging accounting for 469,000 tons.
China remained the main buyer of Brazilian pulp in January, accounting for 47.3% of exports. The total value of pulp sent to China increased by 21.1% over the same month of 2017, reaching $338 million.
