LONDON: British Airways parent International Consolidated Airlines Group is going to take over Aer Lingus when the Irish carrier said its board is thinking to avail offer from its bigger rival.
A deal between IAG, which confirmed the talks, and Aer Lingus “is now highly likely,” Nomura analyst James Hollins said. The revised offer price looks “financially sensible” though details on synergies and other benefits from integrating the Irish carrier still need to be spelled out, Hollins said. IAG also owns Spain’s national carrier Iberia and Vueling, a Spanish discount airline.
