BS-19-20 customs officers asked to submit certificates proving single nationality

ISLAMABAD: Officers of Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) have been instructed to submit certificates of not holding dual nationality under the Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2013. In this regard, FBR has issued instructions to all BS-19-20 officers of PCS regarding the Bill passed by the Senate and transmitted to the National Assembly.

According to FBR, in pursuance of Rule 117 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, the Senate of Pakistan has passed the Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2013 on 16th December, 2013. The contents of the bill are re-produced as under:-

“Provided further that a civil servant holding dual nationality or citizenship of any foreign country shall not be eligible for promotion to posts in Basic Pay Scale 20 or equivalent and above; Provided further that a civil servant upon renunciation of dual nationality or citizenship of foreign country shall become eligible for promotion to posts in Basic Pay Scale 20 or equivalent and above”, it added.
