Budget 2015-16: Govt allocates Rs. 1.5 billion for uplift of agriculture

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has allocated Rs. 1.5 billion for the development of agriculture sector under its Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2015-16.

According to the PSDP, released here Friday, the government has allocated Rs 1.401 billion for the completion of 16 on-going projects and Rs 89.939 million for 7 new schemes in the agriculture sector.

Under PSDP, Rs 428 million has been allocated for the research for agriculture development besides allocating Rs 300 million for promotion of olive cultivation on commercial sales in Pakistan.

To enhance per acre crop production and promote hybrid seed cultivation in the country, the government has allocated Rs 200 million for the project indigenization of hybrid seed production.

In PSDP 2015-16, the government has allocated Rs 100 million for national pesticides research monitoring system for providing quality fertilizers and pesticides to growers in the country.

To provide safe and nutrient filled vegetables for household, the government has allocated Rs 10 million for the project kitchen gardening a way to safe and nutrient filled vegetables under its PSDP 2015-16.

In PSDP 2015-16, Rs 70 million has been allocated for up gradation of arid zone research institute and establishment of new adaptive research.
