SOFIA: Customs officers in Bulgaria have right to carry out operative-investigative activities.
The news emerged after the second reading vote of the amendments to the Customs Act.
Thus adopted amendments provide for operative-investigative activities to be carried out by customs officers at the order of Minister of Finance, after proposal by the director of the National Customs Agency.
Customs officers are authorised to investigate crimes, referring to state budget revenue from excise duties and VAT taxes from import.
