SOFIA: In 2014 Bulgarian exports to the EU increased by 3.2% compared to 2013 and amounted to BGN 27.0 billion. Main trade partners of Bulgaria were Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, France and Belgium which accounted for 70.6% of the exports to the EU Member States, a report of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) released on Thursday showed.
In December 2014 the exports to the EU increased by 18.7% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 2.1 billion.
Bulgarian imports from the EU in 2014 increased by 4.5% compared to 2013 and added up to BGN 31.5 billion at CIF prices. The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece and Spain.
In December 2014 the Bulgarian imports from the EU Member States increased by 13.3% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 2.8 billion at CIF prices.
The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB – import CIF) with the EU in 2014 was negative and added up to BGN 4,575.3 million. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was also negative and amounted to BGN 3,295.8 million.
In 2014 compared to 2013 the largest growth (13.5%) in the exports of Bulgaria to the EU distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification was recorded in the section ‘Chemical and related products n.e.c.’. The most notable falls were recorded in sections ‘Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials’ (18.1%) and ‘Beverages and tobacco’ (16.9%).
In imports from the EU the largest growths (8.3%) were reported in section ‘Chemical and related products n.e.c.’, ‘Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material’ and ‘Miscellaneous manufactured articles’ while the most notable fall (17.5%) was observed in section ‘Animals and vegetable oils, fats and waxes’.
