Bulgaria’s revenue from tourist overnights rises in August

SOFIA: Total revenues from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria rose by an annual 8.3% in August, reaching 323.7 million levs ($195.5 million/165.5 million euro), the country’s statistical office said on Wednesday.

Revenues from overnights spent by foreign nationals increased by 9.3% year-on-year in August, while revenues from Bulgarian tourists grew by 4.0%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement. The number of tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria rose 1.9% on the year to 5.9 million in August. The largest increase in the number of overnights, by 3.8%, was registered by one- and two-star hotels. Four- and five-star hotels serviced 63.5% of the total number of overnights of international visitors and 23.0% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists. A total of 1.26 million tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in August, up 6.3% year-on-year.
