Business community appreciates Chinese investment of US $45 billion in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The business community has welcomed the visit of Chinese President, Xi Jinping and signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over US $45 billion investment in Pakistan which would bring prosperity not only in the country but also in entire region.

“We highly appreciate the visit of our time tested friend Chinese President to Pakistan, his address to joint sitting of Parliament and signing on MoUs worth over US $45 billion investment in Pakistan specially in the energy sector”, Vice President of Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Iftikhar Ali Malik said while talking to APP on Tuesday.

He added that the huge investment under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in energy sector would dawn an era of socio-economic prosperity of Pakistan and help promote industrialization of the country and propel exports.

“We are very excited as our time tested friendly country China has agreed to invest a huge amount in Pakistan which will take the country’s economy to new heights”, said Dr Shimail Daud former President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here Tuesday.

He said that after the start of work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the economic activity would increase not only in Pakistan but also the whole region and this would also attract the businessmen from other countries as well to invest in Pakistan.

Meanwhile Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) also hailed over $ 45 billion Chinese investment in different fields to end the energy issues and enhance the country’s economic growth.

“The Chinese investment in energy and road infrastructures would help enhance the industrial growth and provide regional connectivity besides increasing the trade volumes to US $ 20 billion between the two friendly countries”, said President ICCI, Muzzamil Hussain Sabri, while talking to APP here on Tuesday.

He said that the ICCI signed an MoU with Chinese business community to initiate the free trade zone in Chakwal district to enhance the business and trade relations between the two countries.
