Business community is backbone of economy, says FTO Coordinator

LAHORE: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Coordinator Saif Ur Rehman said that the business community serves as the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, playing a pivotal role in industrialization, job creation, export promotion and contributions to the national exchequer.Pakistan travel guide

Talking to a delegation of business leaders led by Zahid Iqbal Arain, he noted that the Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah was firmly committed to addressing the genuine tax-related grievances of the business community on a priority basis.

Saif Ur Rehman said that the FTO was dedicated to ensuring a transparent, fair and responsive tax environment, critical for fostering trust between taxpayers and tax authorities.“ To this end, the FTO has taken multiple initiatives aimed at simplifying tax procedures, resolving complaints swiftly and eliminating instances of harassment or undue delays,” he added.

He said that the proactive approach of the FTO seeks to build a more business-friendly tax system where traders and industrialists can operate with confidence and security.“ The FTO office functions as an independent and impartial platform where complaints were resolved efficiently,on average, within a record time frame of 36 days.”

This streamlined and transparent process, he added, was expected to strengthen investor confidence and contribute to long-term, sustainable economic growth in the country.
