HARARE: A business delegation from China’s Qingdao province is due in Zimbabwe next week on a mission to explore investment opportunities in the southern African country, state radio reported Friday.
Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation radio said the 12-member delegation, comprising officials from the Qingdao Overseas Investment Service Centre, the Qingdao branch of the People’s Bank of China, the Qingdao Bureau of Commerce and the Qingdao Communist Party of China Committee, would be in Harare from 5-8 January.
The visit was organised by the Ministry of Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion and is expected to culminate in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the ministry and the Qingdao Bureau of Commerce.
The MOU would provide a platform for investment collaboration, capacity building and identification of priority projects between Zimbabwe and Qingdao.
The Chinese delegation is also expected to participate in an investment conference being organised to coincide with the visit. The conference would provide a platform for the delegation to meet the Zimbabwean private sector, state enterprises and local authorities.
