Businessmen hail political consensus on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

KARACHI: Chief Executive Officer of Trade Development Authority SM Muneer, KATI President Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui,  Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan and other prominent businessmen have widely hailed political consensus on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Talking to Customs Today they said that this project will not only brings economic prosperity in Pakistan and all the provinces but the economic growth will also put long lasting effects on entire central Asian economy.

SM Muneer said that the Pak-China agreement on 51 projects worth $46 billion will bring economic stability. He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will result in economic prosperity.

He further said that the economic corridor and other projects will pave way for economic growth of Pakistan. “China has always supported Pakistan and with these projects will further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries,” Muneer said and added that it will create more investment opportunities.

He said that the government is working on several power projects. He hoped this will help in reducing in electricity shortfall in near future.

Muneer said that the law and order situation in Pakistan as well as in Karachi has been improved and in much better position as compare to past.

He said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief of the Army Staff are praise worthy for bringing peace in the country. The visits of heads of states of different countries to Pakistan are also a positive sign that will also open new avenues of economic growth, he added.

Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui, president, KATI said that consensus of political leadership over Pak-China Economic Corridor is a positive step.

He stressed the need that the political leadership should also hold “All Parties Conference” for the redressal of other national issues.

He said that the development projects up to 2030 agreed between Pakistan and China will open up new economic horizon for Pakistan. He said that major projects are included: optic cable railway line from Western China to Gwadar; and expansion of road networks. Besides the projects of agriculture, industrial parks, construction, energy saving and environment are also included which would have positive economic impact on Pakistan, he added.

Siddiqui stressed the need to make the project transparent and objections raised by individuals or groups should be addressed.

Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan said that agreement of political leadership on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor shows national solidarity. He said that Chinese investment will result in Pakistan’s economic prosperity and it will also help in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He said that Chinese investment will generate employment opportunities in Pakistan and help improving in living standards.
