CALIFORNIA: Although Bakersfield employment is on the rebound, unemployment is still higher at 10.3 percent than the state’s rate of 6.1 percent. We’ve seen progress, but we need our legislative representatives to hold the line against cost increases that will threaten businesses growth and eliminate jobs.
High on the list of concerns are raising energy costs caused by government programs that were designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but have the unintended consequence of harming our economy. Most alarming is the fact that the California State Senate just passed and sent to the State Assembly an additional package of climate change bills, SB 350 and SB 32 that give state agencies wide authority to mandate a number of new government controls purported to impact GHG emissions by the year 2030.
