OSLO: Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore industry regulator has signed a memorandum of understanding with its Norwegian counterpart.
The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board signed the agreement Sunday with Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority at the Offshore Technologies Conference happening this week in Houston.
They have a comparable operating environment that we do,” said Scott Tessier, chairman and CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador board.
“We thought it was important, and they agreed, to formalize closer ties with a view to sharing information, learning from one another, addressing problems of mutual interest, and it really formalizes and gives us the ability to utilize their expertise and provide them some advice from time to time as well.”
