VAL-DOUCET: A 63-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were arrested after RCMP say they seized 1.5 million contraband cigarettes at a home in Val-Doucet.
The seizure of more than 1.5 million contraband cigarettes in Val-Doucet has led to the arrest of two people.
A 63-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were arrested following the execution of a search warrant by RCMP at a residence in Val-Doucet, which is located 50 kilometres east of Bathurst.
Police also seized almost four kilograms of marijuana, a large quantity of alcohol and cash during the search.
The man and woman were released from custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
RCMP say the investigation is continuing.
