Canada police seize 172 marijuana seedlings, nab culprit

OTTAWA: Ottawa police seized 172 marijuana seedlings and arrested a suspect found hiding in nearby bushes here the Thursday.

Officers were called to the railway tracks near Anderson and Russell roads by maintenance workers who reported seeing some suspicious activity.

“At the scene, officers located a number of marijuana seedlings in a cooler and another 50 that had been recently planted,” police said in a media release issued here the other day.

Police dogs were called in and found a suspect hiding in some bushes nearby, police said.

A 41-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and production of marijuana.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 8.
