Santo Domingo.: Canada´s Border Security Agency (CBSA) inaugurated specialized training courses taught by its officials for members of Dominican Republic´s various law enforcement agencies, in a ceremony held at Caucedo Port on Monday.
The Port Security Corp (CESEP), the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) and Customs (DGA) coordinate the training aimed at improving Dominican Republic´s capability to intercept suspicious and illegal transport activities at sea.
The CBSA said it offers specialized training and inspections for maritime container ports with participants on intelligence analysis, traffickers´ methods and places of concealment, and to conduct interviews and analysis of suspicious individuals. “Increased cooperation with Dominican Republic sea port authorities help ensure security and improve the ability to detect and intercept potential security threats as soon as possible.”
Canadian Embassy CBSA International Program Liaison Officer Maxime Brodeur and CBSA Senior Adviser Samantha Hanes headed the ceremony, together with local officials.
