OTTAWA: A Nova Scotia man admitted Friday to smuggling 310 pounds of marijuana into the U.S. from Canada 10 years ago.

Thomas Goodyer, 44, of Halifax, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to conspiracy to import marijuana.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten said Goodyer’s conviction stems from a search of a tractor-trailer on the Peace Bridge in 2005 that found multiple plastic wrapped packages of marijuana hidden in boxes of frozen waffles.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents returned the marijuana to the tractor trailer and followed the driver to Pilot Air Freight on Broadway in Buffalo, where Goodyer and co-defendant Brian Brady picked up the marijuana and were arrested.
