ATHENS: PSP Investments, the Canadian fund that indirectly controls 40 percent of Athens International Airport, is asking for the state to relinquish its right to appoint the president of the corporation once the upcoming sale of the 30 percent stake is completed.
This appears to be connected to the problematic relationship the former AIA president, Panayiotis Roumeliotis, had with the strategic investor and state sell-off fund TAIPED.
Next week the draft for the 20-year extension of the concession contract will be submitted to the ministers of finance and transport for approval, so that it can be signed by March and the process for the sale of the 30 percent stake can begin.
