WASHINGTON: Candidates for Canaveral Port Authority commissioner presented their attributes at a forum Wednesday, sponsored by the maritime-focused Propeller Club of Port Canaveral.
Because only Republicans are seeking the seats, the Aug. 30 primary will be open to all voters who live in the five port districts within the northern half of Brevard — not just Republicans. Whoever gets the most votes wins the Port Authority seats for the next four years — a job that pays $10,444 a year. The winners’ new term of office would begin in November.
