Car Cell Islamabad impounds five vehicles valued at Rs11.6m during eight days

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Car Cell Islamabad took into possession five vehicles worth Rs11.6million during 11th to 17th of November’s Financial Year 2017-18.

According to details given by Majid Hussain Gadd, Assistant Collector Customs, Car cell Islamabad that, during above said period, the ASO Islamabad impounded four offending vehicles (vehicles used for carrying smuggling goods). The estimated value of the offending vehicles is Rs4.1million.
He said that, during last week, the ASO Islamabad took into possession one Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicle from Bara Kahu valued at Rs7.5million. The vehicle owner bore fake documents. An FIA has been lodged against the possessor of the NDP vehicle.
Assistant Collector said the Car Cell impounded 95 vehicles valued at Rs166.33million during July to 15th of November’s Fiscal Year 2017-18. The Car Cell also took into possession 78 offending and 17 NDP vehicles from different locations under the jurisdiction of MCC Islamabad worth Rs80.66million. Various FIRs have been registered against the possessors of the NDP vehicles under the Customs Act-1969.
He told CT that, during 1st Quarter (July to September) FY17-18, the Car Cell Islamabad impounded 56 vehicles priced at Rs66.76million. During 1st-Q, the Car Cell took into possession 47 offending vehicles valued at Rs51.90million whereas it also did nine NDP vehicles worth Rs14.86million.
