CASA-1000, TAPI projects to be materialized soon: Khurram Dastgir

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan Tuesday said that CASA-1000 and TAPI projects would materialize soon, bringing further economic prosperity and trade integration in the region.

This he said before leaving for Afghanistan here, according to a statement issued by the ministry of commerce.

The minister said the present government under visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was all set to expand and further strengthen trade ties with Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics.

He said that government was looking towards Central Asian Republics in a bid to open up new avenues for trade enhancement.

He said in order to further strengthen the coordination with Central Asian Republics; a separate desk has been formed at Ministry of Commerce for Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics.

“The last year’s economic performance , conclusion of Pak-US Business Opportunities Conference, successful Trade Policy Review by WTO, stable rating by Moody’s International clearly depict that economic policies of the present government are in a positive direction”, the minister remarked.

The federal minister left for Afghanistan today to realize Prime Minister’s vision of trade enhancement and regional connectivity.

After Afghan president Ashraf Ghani’s visit to Pakistan; this is the first high level delegation visiting Afghanistan from Pakistan.

Pakistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan Transit Trade agreement would also come under discussion during the visit.

The agreement would unveil countless opportunities ensuring economic connectivity and integration for whole of the region after its materialization.

The minister is scheduled to hold meetings with the Afghan President Dr Ashraf Ghani, Afghan Chief Executive Dr Abdullah Abdullah, Afghan National Economic Advisor Omar Zakhilwal and Afghan Finance Minister Mr Eklil Ahmed Hakimi.
