ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal (CAT) has to re-issue notices in over 50 cases owing to cancellation of arrival of Chairman, Ghulam Murtaza Bhatti to Islamabad.

CAT officials told that they had to dispatch re-notices to all the appellants and respondents involved in over 50 cases. They added that new cause lists were compiled after making mandatory changes to the cases.

Officials added that surprised cancelation of chairman’s arrival in the capital had troubled appellants and respondents. As a result of delay in visit, appellants with urgent nature of work would be compelled to approach him other cities, they added.

Ghulam Murtaza Bhatti, who was scheduled to arrive and resume hearings at the tribunal headquarters in Islamabad, had to cancel visit in account of overwhelming cases proceedings in Punjab province, Lahore and yet the concerned department had not issued the new schedule confirming his arrival in the capital.
