BENGALURU: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials have arrested the Superintendent of Customs at Kempegowda International Airport for demanding and accepting a bribe.
The accused Lingaraj had demanded `2.5 lakh from the complainant to clear a cargo consignment of silk scarfs meant for export to M/s Setia Seleton Enterprises, Malaysia. CBI officials laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while he was accepting the bribe, according to A Subramanyeswara Rao, SP, CBI, Anti-Corruption Branch.
The officials also searched the office and residence of the accused. Incriminating documents seized during the searches are being examined.
