CBI to extend technical assistance to Sialkot exporters

SIALKOT: Joost Staffhorst (Country Program Manager) Netherlands’ Enterprise Agency CBI has assured full cooperation of CBI, it’s all the technical assistance and necessary guidance to Sialkot exporters in modernizing the export-oriented cottage industries of Sialkot, enabling the Sialkot exporters to have better knowledge about the easy access to the international trade markets.

He stated this while addressing an important meeting of Sialkot business community held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here. SCCI President Fazal Jillani and SVP Mir Alamgir Meyer were also present on this occasion.

Joost Staffhorst said that the CBI was planning out a comprehensive program to boom up Sialkot’s sports goods and surgical industries in the light of the consultations, meetings and positive suggestions made by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, saying that there was a dire need of early up-gradation and modernization of more than a century old Sialkot’s export-oriented cottage industries , following the global industrial significance of Sialkot.

He highly hailed the unique export culture of Sialkot. He also said that the CBI was also intending to encourage the Sialkot based exporters for promoting their own brands and adopting the advanced marketing methods for their easy and early access to the international trade markets. He said that CBI would make all out sincere efforts to remove all the hurdles from the way of smooth promotion of exports of Sialkot-made sports goods and surgical instruments, in this regard.

He said that the CBI was mostly likely to start the Sialkot industrial development program in 2016 in active cooperation with the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other main trade bodies as well.

He also announced to provide necessary training of the advanced skills to the Sialkot based entrepreneurs, in this regard.
