SAN YSIDRO: US Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry apprehended a fugitive with outstanding felony warrants for attempted murder and a weapons offense.
Jairo Guadalupe Madrigal entered the San Ysidro port of entry as a passenger in a grey Honda Pilot, together with the driver, an adult passenger, and three minor children also in the vehicle. A CBP officer queried Madrigal’s information against law enforcement databases and was alerted that he was wanted. CBP officers escorted the vehicle and occupants to a secure location for further investigation.
CBP used fingerprints to confirm the identity of Madrigal, a 20-year-old U.S. citizen, and the two active warrants for his arrest: a $1 million bail warrant for attempted murder by the Huron Police Department in California, and a $60,000 bail warrant for a weapons offense by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
CBP officers transported and booked Madrigal into the San Diego Central Jail to await extradition to Huron.
