The OITP incorporates arming certification in its training of recruits and is designed to develop and assess the broad range of behavioural and technical competencies a CBSA officer trainee needs to maintain the CBSA’s world-class standards.

Now participants will now become officer trainees and begin the OITP. This program provides on-the-job training and guidance that build upon the knowledge and skills learned at the College.

These two programs, along with the Be Ready – Become a CBSA officer recruitment campaign, make up the Officer Induction Model (OIM), a comprehensive approach to recruiting, training, and developing future border services officers.

The CBSA is committed to ensuring the security of Canada’s borders. Training provided to our frontline officers is an investment in them and in our communities. The Agency commends its officers for their role in ensuring a safe, secure and efficient border.
