CCoP discusses proposals to privatise Fesco, TPS Muzaffargarh

ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP) has discussed several proposals for privatisation of Faisalabad Electric Supply Corporation (Fesco) and TPS Muzaffargarh of Northern Power Generation Company (Ltd).

The options were discussed during a CCoP meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar. The proposals were presented by the Privatisation Division.

Privatisation Commission Chairman Mohammad Zubair apprised Dar about the progress achieved in this regard and the timeline for fulfilling the remainder of procedures. The finance minister observed that the financial advisors should provide the government with multiple options with a view to maximizing the gains from these transactions.

He also called upon the Privatisation Commission chairman to provide him a regular update on the planned divestment activities and ensure that in all such matters the principles of transparency and accountability were fully observed.

The meeting was also attended by BOI Chairman Miftah Ismail and officials of Ministry and Privatisation Commission.
