CDA starts development work at Sector I-11

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started development work at Sector I-11 after completing operation against illegal slum.

The machinery is working on the site for levelling the land and removal of debris to pave way for the development of the area. The four-day operation against the illegal slum has been carried out by the enforcement directorate of CDA supported by Islamabad city administration, police and rangers as well as other wings of the CDA.

Heavy machinery was used to demolish the illegal structures in sector I-11/1 and I-11/4. On the last day of the operation, the remaining dwellers of the slum voluntarily evacuated their luggage from the slum, which were later demolished.

The CDA chairman has directed the engineering wing of the authority to come up with a comprehensive plan for expeditious development of the area whereas the planning & estate management has been directed to formulate a strategy for handing over of the plots to the original allottees of the sector which have been waiting to build their houses since long. He said that removal of this major slum would also help facilitate CDA for action against other encroachments and illegal slums in the city as well as to expedite the process of development of the residential sectors.

On the direction of the CDA chairman, the authority in collaboration with the ICT administration provided transport facility to the people being evicted from the area for their next destination. The health directorate also carried out fumigation of the area.
