CDWP approves six development projects worth Rs88 billion

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting, under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reforms Ahsan Iqbal, has okayed six development projects worth Rs88.005 billion, including Rs84.401 billion China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) Raikot section (Phase-1).

The meeting was attended by sponsoring agencies including representatives of provincial governments and federal departments. The approved six development projects have foreign exchange component of Rs1.412 billion. Approved projects are related to science & technology, health, physical planning & housing and transport & communication.

The prominent among the approved projects is the land acquisition, affected properties compensation and relocation of utilities for China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) – Raikot section (Phase-1) Havelian-Thakot (120kms) worth Rs.84.401 billion.

Vision 2025 Science Talent Farming Scheme (STFS) for 1800 students costing Rs.1.395 billion was also approved by the CDWP. The minister commended the project, saying it would help identify science talent at school level, train and groom the future scientists of the country by providing scholarships up to PhD level.
