WASHINGTON: The U.S. Commerce Department has awarded a $1.4 million grant to the Central Louisiana Regional Port in Alexandria to upgrade transportation and transit infrastructure. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker said in a news release Friday that the investment will help increase the port’s capacity to handle the needs of local industry and facilitate global trade.
The department’s Economic Development Administration grant will help the port expand its warehouse, increase crane service, upgrade and expand transit infrastructure, and acquire and develop adjacent property for truck and container staging.
