Central Region sales tax collection up 44pc

LAHORE: The Customs Central region has registered a growth of 44 percent as it collected Rs 9267 million sales tax during the nine months of financial year 2015-16.

According to data, the region consists of Lahore Appraisement, Lahore Preventive, Customs Multan and Customs Faisalabad.

The data shows that the Lahore Appraisement collected Rs 3534 million sales tax registering 38 percent growth while Lahore Preventive registered 29 percent growth by collecting Rs 1,393 million against Rs 1,076 million during the same period last year. Customs Multan collected Rs 3,605 million registering 47 percent growth against Rs 2,454 million last year.

Customs Faisalabad, however, registered 124 percent growth in collecting sales tax of Rs 734 million against the same period last financial year.  Overall the region showed growth 44 percent in collecting sales tax.
