Chairman FBR Irshad to visit Karachi this week

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Dr Muhammad Irshad would come to Karachi on one-day visit during the current week, it is learnt here.

The sources informed Customs Today that the chairman would chair some important meetings with the senior officers of Pakistan Customs, Inland Revenue Services (IRS), Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) and Regional Tax Office (RTO).

The sources further said that the chairman would also review the performance of the collectorates in achieving revenue targets at the end of third quarters of the fiscal year 2016-17. Responding to a query, the sources revealed that the chairman would also review the cases of duty/tax evasion, transpired during the FY 2016-17.

To a query, the sources said that a comprehensive strategy has been evolved during the visit to act against tax evaders. The sources also confirmed that the chairman would attend an annual dinner given by the Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) at a local hotel.

The chairman would also listen to the issues and problems of the KTBA members during his visit.
