FBR Chairman Nisar directs officials to resolve issues in filing of tax returns through IRIS

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has asked Inland Revenue-Policy (IR-Policy) Member Rehmatullah Khan Wazir, Inland Revenue-Operations (IR-Operations) Member Dr Muhammad Arshad and Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ahmed Nawaz to resolve the issues being faced by the taxpayers in the filing of their tax returns in IRIS system.

According to details, the FBR chairman received several complaints from the taxpayers that they had been facing issues in the filing of their tax returns through the IRIS system. However, taking notice of the situation, Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has now asked the officials concerned to ensure smooth working of the IRIS system to facilitate the taxpayers.

It may be mentioned here that the taxpayers were of the view that the automated tax filing system of FBR – commonly knows as the IRIS system – had been working “dead slow” for the last month or so, which was creating difficulties for them to file their tax returns on time. They said that the prevailing situation was also creating panic for the taxpayers.

Reacting upon the prevailing issue, FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has asked the officials to remove all the hindrance and impediments facing by the taxpayers in the system. The FBR chief also directed them to submit a compliance and follow-up report in this regard.

According to a spokesperson for the FBR, the authorities concerned would take each and every step in order to ensure the smooth working of the IRIS system for the facilitation of the taxpayers.
