ISLAMABAD: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman called Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha to discuss issues being faced by the GB traders.

According to FBR sources, CM Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman contacted FBR Chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha via telephone and discussed Gilgit-Baltistan traders’ multiple issues regarding the latest automation system Web-Based One Customs (WeBOC), including repeated shutdowns, which resulted in stoppage of all import, export and transit activities, slow internet and other technical issues in the system.

Meanwhile, FBR Chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha invited the Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries, traders, and import and export association representatives to thoroughly discuss and resolve the issues faced by them.

It is important to mention here that the frequency of breakdowns of WeBOC has increased in the recent past, and experiences of a disaster-like situation has already alarmed the business community. The risk of closure of WeBOC due to hacking is very high, as many government departments has their websites defaced by hackers in the recent past.
