Chairman Nisar to visit Karachi by end of next week

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan would visit Karachi for two days by the end of next week, it is learnt.

The sources informed that the chairman was scheduled to visit Custom House by the end of next week, adding that the other senior officers would also accompany him.

They further informed this scribe that Nisar Khan during his visit to Karachi would meet with the officers of Pakistan Customs Services (PCS), Inland Revenue Services (IRS) and the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation in order to review the performance. He will also have meeting with officers of Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU).

The officials from all departments, including Chief Collector Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Chief Collector Zahid Khokar, chief commissioners and commissioners will brief the chairman about revenue collections under various heads and strategies being adopted to curb smuggling in the region.

The sources further disclosed that the Chairman Nisar Khan has special directives from the Ministry of Finance that the revenue collection should be improved through effective policies and that is why he is going to visit the economical hub of the country to review the performance.
