Character building of youth must for corruption free society: NAB

PESHAWAR: Director General (DG), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Farooq Naser Awan has said that character building of young generation predominantly students is must for establishing a corruption free society.

We must inculcate high moral values as well as abhorrence against corruption in the minds of youth from the very beginning.

He was addressing a concluding session of Provincial/FATA level Urdu and English Declamation Contest and Painting Competition on Anti-Corruption Themes organized by NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the eve of Anti-Corruption Day.

A total of 21 top students took part who were selected from D.I. Khan Division, Malakand Division, North/South Waziristan Agency, Mohmand Agency, Khyber Agency, Bajour Agency, Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency by the Directorate of Youth Affairs through Media Liaison Cooperation (MLC) Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Political Administration after obtaining various distinctions in their respective division & Agencies.

1st position holders in Urdu Mr. Farhanzeb of Gomal University D.I. Khan and Mrs. Shafaq Tanveer KGMC in English were detailed towards Islamabad for Inter Provincial competition and will be awarded by President of Pakistan on the eve of International Anti-corruption Day which is celebrated across the globe.

DG NAB (KP) stressed upon the students to adopt high moral values such as self-discipline, truthfulness, honesty, punctuality, fairness in dealings and respect for elders. He added that students’ speeches/paintings highly inspired him and their enthusiasm, talent and spirit reflect that the future of country is bright and is in safe hand.

Earlier, students in their thought provoking speeches urged upon all segments of the society to play their role in elimination of corruption from the society.

They also highlighted the importance of character building to establish a corruption free society. DG NAB (KP) Brigadier Farooq Naser Awan SI (M) distributed cash prizes / Merit Certificates to the winner of the contest.
