KARACHI: Customs Appraisement-South Chief Collector Abdul Rashid Shaikh has received several requests from the importers and clearing agents in connection with the implementation of Form-I from September-1, it is learnt here.
Sources informed Customs Today that the importers and clearing agents are facing difficulties in filing the goods declaration through the newly introduced electronic Form-I; adding that the import business is also facing decline.
The importers and clearing agents were of the view that the FBR should give at least three more months for implementing the Form-I in import process.
It is pertinent to mention here that the FBR with the consultation of the government authorities had decided to introduce Form-I in importation process with a view to curb tax evasion and under-invoicing.
The sources informed this scribe that the final decision in this regard would be taken after having consultation with the authorities concerned of federal government.
It may be mentioned here that the importers and clearing agents have already expressed their reservations over the introduction of Form-I, adding that the details of the consignments along with the duty/taxes are already being in the record of customs and introduction of Form-I would shake the confidence of importers.
The sources further said that the FBR authorities concerned have not taken any step in order to withdraw the introduction of Form-I, as the federal government and the FBR authorities have decided to tight the noose over tax evasion, mis-declaration and under-invoicing cases.
