Chief Collector Dr. Asif Jah Mehmood lauds services rendered by Collector Mohammad Saleem

PESHAWAR: The Chief Collector North Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah appreciated services rendered by Collector Appraisement and Facilitation Muhammad Saleem to get the Collectorate out of difficult situation.

The Chief Collector paid tribute to Collector Muhammad Saleem on the occasion of his farewell.

Explaining the details of services of the Collector Saleem, the Deputy Collector MCC Peshawar said that under the leadership of Collector Muhammad Saleem the Collectorate has surpassed  the assigned target of customs duty with heavy margin of 102.60 percent during financial year 2020-21.

He said that during the tenure of Mohammad Saleem an effective strategy was devised to enhance revenue through administrative measures like Recoveries, Valuation and PRVs (Post-Release Verification) besides taking tangible measures towards facilitation of trade and ease of doing Customs business.

The DC Headquarter also informed the guests that with efforts of the Collector Saleem a new Customs Station at Angoor Adda has been made functional from September 30, 2020, this measure boosted up the exports to Afghanistan from South Region of this Collectorate.

In the first seven months since operationalization of Customs Station at Angoor Adds goods worth US$23.75million have been exported to Afghanistan from this station alone.

During his address the Chief Collector North Asif Mahmud Jah said that “prior to opening of the Customs station Angoor Ada not a single $US exports have ever been made to Afghanistan from this route” but by the untiring efforts the Collector Saleem the status of existing Customs Stations have been upgraded whereby the Customs Station at Kharlachi has been designated for rebate able exports of cement in addition to simple exports.

Highlighting the efforts of the Collector Saleem the Chief Collector said that during the tenure of Saleem the Customs Station at Ghulam Khan has been designated for handling transit cargo to Afghanistan.

With efforts of the Collector  these measures proved significant impact in opening up of new trade opportunities for this area and would translate into expansion of bilateral trade with Afghanistan from BCPs (Border Control Posts) other from Torkham.

The Chief Collector mentioned that under supervision of Muhammad Saleem all Customs Stations namely Torkham, Kharlachi, Ghulam Khan and Angoor Adda have been converted to WeBOC (web based one customs) clearances, facilitation, he added that this task was very difficult which done nicely by the Collector Saleem and his team specially Shahid Jan the Additional Collector Appraisement and Facilitation.

In his address the Collector Muhammand Sallem thanked the Chief Collector North and his entire team for their full support in completing all the tasks. Ends
