Chief Collector Samaira Nazir lauds performance of Multan Customs in revenue generation‏

Upon her arrival at the Customs collectorate, Samaira Nazir was given briefing on revenue collections of the collectorate in on-going fiscal year 2015-16.

On this occasion, Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saud Imran, Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich, Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa, Deputy Collector Muhammad Ali Malik, Deputy Collector Abdul Mueed Kanjoo, Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Multan Naveed Ur Rehman Bughvi, Special Assistant  of Chief Collector and Deputy Collector Abbas Ali Babar, Assistant Collector Faizan Badar and Assistant Collector Tanvir Malik were also present during the meeting .

Deputy Collector Muhammad Ali Malik informed the chief collector through presentation on revenue collection strategy of the Customs Multan in the first ten months of on-going fiscal year. The Multan Customs collected Rs 3,3501.300 million from July to April  in economic year 2015-16. The Customs collectorate Multan have surpassed all assigned targets of revenue due to their continuous efforts except customs duty. The Customs collectorate Multan detected 57 cases of miscellaneous goods worth Rs 101 million during the on-going fiscal year. The seized items include tyres, auto parts, grease, HSD, mobiles phones and cloth.

The customs collectorate Multan formed 118 seizure cases of Rs 164 million against the offenders in their on-going campaign against smugglers and tax evaders. Huge quantities of smuggled goods were seized and eight suspected smugglers were arrested in on-going anti-smuggling activities. Multan Customs have enhanced the surveillance at the Multan international airport and Rahim Yar Khan airprt after thwarting smuggling of mobile phones and their accessories of Rs 25 million.

Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich told that customs duty is falling due to drop in the prices of the High Speed Diesel Oil in the international markets as the collectorate have almost 97 import clearance which includes oil products. He told that Multan collectorate is the second largest collectorate in revenue collection after Karachi and it has its immense importance for the region due to strategic locality.

Due to increase in the local crude oil production import clearances has also dropped and customs is closely monitoring scenario in this regard. He expressed that Multan Customs is focusing to promote import clearances other oil imports in order to generate more revenue but due to high freight charges from Karachi to Multan importers preferred cost-effective route for their clearances.

Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich told that we have asked business community to utilize the best available facilities at Multan Dry Port for the import clearances of local industry.  During the meeting various aspects for revenue accomplishment were discussed and decided to take special measures for the collection of revenue.

Chief Collector Samaira Nazir directed Multan Customs officials to meet the assigned target of revenue collection for the fiscal year 2015-16 and lauded the performance of the collectorate so far.

Mutual efforts are required to curb the menace of smuggling in the region to promote legitimate trade in the region for the generation of further of revenue.

Chief Collectorate  Samaira Nazir  was informed that PARCO is presently engaged in the transportation of petroleum products on behalf of oil marketing companies  from Karachi to Mehmod Kot near Multan. Customs officials brief Chief Collector that PARCO,s pipeline system includes a network functioning up to Mehmood Kot near a distance of 864 kilometres. PARCO delivers the products at Mehmood Kot through a pipeline and oil marketing companies taken oil from the company after refining . PARCO system for oil transportation have been designed state of the art to the latest international standards and declared to be best in the international oil industry. Chief collector was told by the officials that PARCO oil refinery is placed in a unique position with an additional capability to exploit the future trends of the oil industry in Pakistan.

Chief Collector also visited various sections of Model of Customs Collectorate Multan including general branch, DTRE, audit, anti-smuggling organization and PRAL .Chief Collector was updated about the newly constructed building of  Multan Customs along with officials of the Multan Customs.
