SANTIAGO: Everything shows that this season the shipments of the main Chilean apple to the Asian country will finish with the 3rd highest figure.
Despite the fact that the year has not finished yet, the Chilean Royal Gala export season have already ended in several markets. In the United States the season finished in the first days of September, with the lowest figure in ten years. Same situation in Europe, where the arrivals ended in the first week on august. In the case of China, the Chilean Royal Gala shipments have been minimum in the last two weeks. However, the total exported throughout the year already surpassed the 18.000 tons; figure only recorded in 2010 and 2011 where the total exported was 20.000 tons.
In terms of market, it started in a good way for the Chilean Exporters, during the period between March and May the average opening price was similar to last year in spite of having 67% more shipments. Later, during the market window in the months of June and July, the price went up, only to drop again in August and September.
