SANTIAGO DE CHILE: The Chilean National Customs Service launched a special plan with a view to prevent that fireworks, drugs, and copyright are smuggled into the country during the America Soccer Cup.
Chile’s Customs (DNA) began to establish special security measures at borders, faced with the so-expected arrival by road of thousands of tourists that come to see the continental tournament, scheduled from the coming June 11 to July 4.
The DNA warned that it would take record of all the fans that arrive in Chile, with a thorough control aimed at preventing that fireworks are brought into the country, because they are prohibited, according to the law on the control of weapons and explosive devices and materials.
The people that bring thoser elements are exposed to fines and judicial subpoenas, the department said. Control would be also focused on forged goods, especially those related to the America Cup, as t-shirts of the teams and promotional products protected by the law of parent rights and copyright.
Besides, the customs department highlighted that those that bring more than $10,000 USSD, or its equivalent in any other currency, into the country should make the relevant sworn statement.
Those people that did not do that and are caught carrying that amount of money will be subject to confiscation of 30 percent of the total amount.
Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay and Jamaica will be the participating countries in the soccer event.
